As we say goodbye to 2008 and hello to 2009, I did some reflecting on the past year as my horses leader and partner and had some interesting thoughts. We always make New Years Resolution to ourselves but seldom if ever do we make them about our horse. I thought I would share mine and maybe give you something to think about.
1. Always treat my horse with the same amount of dignity and respect that I ask of him.
2. Remember and understand the phrase The Attitude of Justice.
3. Be the best leader I can be by asking my horse in a clear and concise way.
4. Stay out of the way of my Horse. What I mean is to give him the chance to think it through and not to micro manage him.
5. Remember what we mean when we say Natural Horsemanship.
6. Less is more.
7. Spend more time just observing him in a natural setting.
8. Watch and Learn.

There are a few of mine. I would love to hear if you have made any with your horse. I would like to See 2009 as the best year for the Horse yet. We can make this a better place for not only our horses but for every horse by leading by example. Let me know your thoughts.

Horses for Sale

We have several horses for sale and of course this is not the best time to try and sell horses but nonetheless they are on the market. I care deeply for every one of my horses and try to find the very best situation for them when I sell them. I was talking to Don Knapp the other day and he said something that kinda put selling horses in perspective. Don has known that we are trying to sell a few horses and he is trying to sell a few of his own. Don said that he had been watching some of these so called horse traders and was amazed at the number of horses that they buy and sell. He stated that he feels the reason that they sell so much and people like us dont, is that we are trying to place them in good situations with good families that have like minded respect for the horse versus just selling them to whomever has the money. Don said we had a hard time selling our horses because we cared for them and where they were going.

We care so much about our horse that we want the finest home for them. I would hope that if someone were buying the horse and spending the money they would want the best for the horse also. Therein lies our problem and why Natural Horse for Sale exists. We want to not only provide an avenue for you to buy and sell your horses, but we also want to try and show people that dont know about Natural Horsemanship, what we are and why we do what we do. We want "normal" people to have an idea of what all the fuss is about so maybe they will look into Natural Horsemanship and accept it and help the horse.

Our horses are still for sale and we will find the right people for our friends regardless of how long it takes. Hopefully we will change a few people along the way and make this a better place for the horse.

New Baby

Hello and sorry it has taken so long to post. My Reining mare, Boomen,my wife calls her my four legged mistress had a beatiful filly out of Whimpys Little Step on May 23. I am always amazed at the miracle of birth especially by a maiden mare. Mom and baby are just fine and Boomen is a great mother and very protective. I think it is amazing at how Boomen has become such a great mother almost overnight. It has been a joy to watch my mare and her filly as they grow and watching the filly as she learns new things. This part of horse ownership is so exciting just watching this little girl as she grows and all the promise and potential she has. The more I learn about Natural Horsemanship the more excited I get about what we can do not just with our horses but with our babies as well. I know that because of my experiences and my knowledge in Natural Horsemanship I am going to give this filly every opportunity and will teach her with respect and dignity. What a wonderful change from the way I used to be. Our horses are so much better for what we have learned.

New website

Our new website www.naturalhorseforsale.com will be going live this weekend. I have met people that study only one clinician and whatever he says is gospel and then I have met some people that take some from each clinician and develop their own way using a little bit of everything. I use to believe that you had to follow a specific clinician and learn all you could from him. As I have met these people and have seen first hand how this works, I have to say that I realize it is not about this or that clinician or this or that piece of tack. Rather it is and should always be about the horse and what we need to do to build better communication with them. I have come to realize that to paraphrase Eclectic Horseman Magazine " Whatever Works". I believe that we need to remember that it is all about the horse whomever you choose to follow or not to follow. The horse is the whole reason we are here doing what we do and trying to better our communication and leadership with this wonderful animal called the horse.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to my Blog.
